Engaging Therapy in NYC
Life is all about balance. We feel out of balance when we aren’t living our values and prioritizing our needs. Things can feel overwhelming when our coping mechanisms stop working. We can feel alone. When we evaluate our work environment, relationships, and happiness, we find that things are not sparking joy or moving us forward. This feeling of static, non-movement is important, as that discomfort signals it is time for change.
Often in therapy I help people grow by tapping into their thought log to uncover what may be preventing them from reaching their full potential. Sometimes our self-narration stops us from taking risks and feeling empowered. I guide clients to understand how their internal narrative and their self-esteem can become their own barrier. I help people evaluate their self-talk and correct misinformation in their own heads. I focus on seeking evidence and promoting authentic self-awareness.
Clients who do this work often discover untruths they have been telling themselves and learn to understand that they ARE capable, they CAN do hard things, and they WILL survive challenging times. I believe a huge part of my role as a therapist is helping people live without the limits we assign ourselves. We can break free from our fear of failure and live joyful lives.
Another important aspect of therapy is creating a space for individuals to feel heard. I build an environment where clients feel compassion without judgement. Therapy provides a healthy outlet for grief and sadness so you can be present to savor the joyful moments in life. A therapist is a witness to your story; someone you trust, who sees and validates your emotions.
I believe that therapy is simultaneously empowering, relieving, and absolutely transformative.
Let’s spark your change.
My Background
I became a therapist because I saw people in my own life struggling with anxiety, feelings of pessimism, and fears about the future. Many of my peers didn’t have the words to express their unease and lacked methods to seek help. My friends and family who had access to therapy were better able to fight the negativity in their heads, share their emotions authentically, and find balance. I feel drawn to support others as they fight through difficult moments in life and learn to thrive.
After discovering my passion, I earned my masters degree from Columbia University and currently practice as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or LMHC on the upper west side in New York City. Before starting Catalyst Counseling, I worked with clients at the Institute for Human Identity, Hudson Guild, and Purpose Squared, serving a diverse group of adults in many NYC neighborhoods.
Using an integrative approach, I draw on my experience and research in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that might be holding you back. I’m here to help you understand what changes will move you forward. With that knowledge, we can create a plan for growth and get you thriving.
